National Alliance Information Technology Forum


Clients:

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Conference of States on Building Codes (NCSBCS) hosted an Information Technology Forum for the National Alliance for Building Regulatory Reform.

Challenge:

Identify software tools that could increase the effectiveness of the nation's building regulatory process by streamlining building regulations, including reducing the time and cost of plan reviews, inspections, and securing permits across 44,000 code enforcement jurisdictions.

IBTS Solutions:

  • Lead task force to establish goals and objectives
  • Construction and software industries were invited to work with the building regulators to find solutions that all the jurisdictions could apply
  • Task force merged best ideas to create sample solutions
