Under direction of New York Power Authority, review process brings together team with energy efficiency expertise.
The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), one of the members of The Energy Efficiency Innovation Collaborative (EE-INC), a public-private partnership of energy industry leaders spearheaded by the New York Power Authority (NYPA), announces that it has begun its part in the review of over 120 responses received during the first round of the Request for Information (RFI). This process, which opened in early February, identified energy efficiency technologies that are commercial, but not yet widely deployed.
As part of the EE-INC team, IBTS worked closely with NYPA to develop a review process for evaluating technologies submitted during the RFI process. IBTS will also work to match energy efficiency technologies to current projects under the Build Smart NY initiative.
A wide variety of companies specializing in energy-saving technologies completed the RFI to participate. The categories of technologies that submitted include energy management and metering, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning, lighting, modeling and analytical tools, on-site power generation and others from New York, nationally, as well as international companies.
IBTS brings valuable skill sets necessary in evaluating technologies and matching appropriate projects to demonstrate energy efficiency. The IBTS team includes the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Building Insight, Courtney-Strong Inc., and CoR Advisors.

Other members of the collaborative, in addition to IBTS, include NYPA, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems (SyracuseCoE) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
