IBTS Partners with the Missouri Municipal League to Offer Local Government Solutions to Members

The Missouri Municipal League signs a master service agreement with IBTS to offer building department services to member municipalities.

The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is pleased to announce today that it has partnered with the Missouri Municipal League (MML) to offer a suite of building department services to member municipalities. Local governments are faced with many challenges, including retiring staff, increasing wages, and budget restrictions. The MML and IBTS shared-service approach will provide access to certified staff to provide professional services to communities in a cost-effective manner.

MML signed a master service agreement with IBTS in late September, enabling interested member municipalities to contract IBTS services on a full-time or as-needed basis. Each interested jurisdiction will work directly with IBTS to identify both current and future services. Once jurisdictions sign a service agreement, they are able to request services and only pay a fee for the services that have been provided. This flexibility gives jurisdictions the opportunity to share resources and provide quality service to its community for an affordable cost.

IBTS assists municipalities of all sizes with a range of needs. Under this agreement, the MML members gain access to IBTS’s building department service offering, which includes planning, zoning, permitting, plan review, inspections, floodplain management, stormwater services, property maintenance, accessibility reviews, fire code reviews, and the GOVmotusTM permitting software.

Many cities across Missouri need building inspection and plan review services but do not have enough activity to warrant employing their own full-time staff. This new IBTS program will allow MML members to provide important inspection and plan review services for their communities at an affordable price.”
