IBTS’s Economic Development and Disaster Recovery division brings Michael Spletto, a national grant expert, on board as their Corporate Disaster Recovery Executive.
The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is pleased to announce that it recently brought national grant expert, Michael Spletto, on board as the new Corporate Disaster Recovery Executive for their Economic Development and Disaster Recovery division.
Mr. Spletto has over 30 years of experience in the field of community development and administration of federal grants. He has extensive knowledge of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), CDBG Disaster Recovery, FEMA, and HOME programs, having played a key role in many of the largest disaster recovery programs in the country – including Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. Mr. Spletto has worked in the community development industry since 1989 and managed the first Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded disaster program in 1993. Throughout his career, he has assisted in the oversight or management of over $20 billion in HUD disaster funding.
At IBTS, Mr. Spletto will be focused on assisting communities through the maze of federal regulations that pertain to receiving disaster assistance, particularly CDBG funding. He will work to design, develop, and drive community outreach services as well as support disaster and grant management project design, setup, compliance, and excellence. One of his major tasks will be to develop a post-disaster response plan for the states, counties, and cities impacted by disasters. Additionally, Mr. Spletto will provide subject matter expertise to ongoing and new CDBG-DR projects that IBTS is currently working on.
