Buildings in full compliance with energy codes are more cost-effective to operate, better for the environment and have an increased resale value. From planning to project completion, IBTS ensures your project is built to code.
Our energy code support inspectors review construction designs to verify compliance and schedule onsite inspections to ensure all structures and systems are being built to code. We also provide training to build your team’s knowledge of energy codes and the steps required for compliance.
Our services include:
- Plan review: We review your building plans for compliance before construction.
- Site inspection: We schedule onsite inspections to ensure your project is proceeding in full compliance with energy codes.
- Education and Training: Our experts help ensure your team has the necessary knowledge of energy codes and compliance requirements. We also provide a more general training for your local code officials, architects, engineers, builders, and others interested in learning about energy codes.
- Energy code inspectors: We offer local resources to develop and support your energy code compliance and enforcement protocols.
Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP)
IBTS recently formed a strategic initiative with the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP), with the intent to integrate BCAP into the IBTS family by early 2019. BCAP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption, implementation, and advancement of building energy codes at national, state, local, and international levels through technical support, education, and policy development. Our Work in Action
As part of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s statewide energy code training initiative, IBTS created a training program for program officials on how to inspect for energy code compliance, and developed a field guide to be used by contractors to make educated decisions on energy efficiency projects. The project helped ensure overall compliance to the energy code, a goal of the Department of Energy.
